وزير العلى أهلاً وسهلاً ومرحباً

إيابك ميمونٌ وفوزك مأمولُ

Minister supreme, welcome, at ease, greetings to you

Your return is auspicious, your success hoped for

وفيّان للعرش المقدس والحمى

سعيدان في أرجائه أنت والنيلُ

Loyal to the sacred throne and protectress

Both you and the Nile joyful in her precincts

وإن حمدت إخلاصك الأرض والسما

فأنت على هذي الشمائل مجبول

Though the land and sky praise your sincerity

You were created with these fine qualities

أتعرف عذراً للغضاب وحجة

وقد رضى العباس والعصر والجيل

Do you know of any excuse or justification

When Al-'Abbas, the age, the generation are pleased?

وإن الذي نسعى إليه وإن غلا

علينا لمضمون بحزمك مكفول

What we strive for, though dear to attain

Is guaranteed by your resolve

وإن الذي تختاره من سياسة

جلتها التجاريب الصحاح لمقبول

What you choose of policy

Its glory proven by experience as acceptable

ومن كابد الميدان لا يجهل المدى

وقد يخطئ الميعاد إن طاش تعجيل

One who has endured the arena knows the extent

A deadline may miss the mark if there’s undue haste

كفى مصر من أضيافها عدل شاهد

وودٌّ إلى دار الخلافة موصول

Egypt has enough from its guests of justice that bears witness

And affection towards the Caliphate’s abode intact

نسير إلى استقلالها مطمئنة

وإن كثرت في مسلكها الأقاويل

We proceed to its independence reassured

Though many words circle about its course

وباسم أمير النيل لا باسم غيره

إذا زاد جيش أو تجدد أسطول

In the name of the Nile’s Prince, no other's

If army expands or fleet made anew
