Once filled with people, now empty?

The weak and frail structure moans from the storms

    That even sturdy buildings lament

Burns my heart to find them, wherever they be

Did they willingly respond when called away

Or did they reluctantly answer the summons?

Answer me, for this year has been long

Endless my calling, ceaseless my questioning

My friends left me, alone with my thoughts

In your sands when they ended their stay

I vow my eyes will water your land

Even if in this I find no home

I called and none have seen a caller

Striving like me, then retreating, broken

Until even the deaf were moved by my cries

And the hearts of my enemies softened for me

    Deep-rooted among its sons, spreading

Building on the ruins of our former glory

A lofty edifice, towering and grand

Cut off what we hoped for, turned

The streams of bounty away from our hands

That will return to you the joy of life anew

    Until you attain the heights

You have a sharp sword from the religion

That will defeat the enemies, when boldly drawn

With it, revive the Prophet's path, restore

The faith of God that has declined and faded

Revive it, until you regain its vigor

Lest it live parched and languishing

Your silence and neglect of its affairs

Are enough trial - spare me more

Then we would live in bliss and delight

Safe from enemies' harm or nights to fright
