1. عادت اليوم مصر خلقاً جديداً

    لك تستقبل القران السعيدا

    Egypt has returned today with a new spirit,

    To receive the glorious Quran.

  2. ماجتْ الأرضُ بالجموعِ ولولا

    ك عليه لم يأمنوا أن تميدا

    The land swayed with crowds, were it not for you,

    They would not have felt secure against ruin.

  3. وتجلَّت فيها المدائن تختا

    ل كما هزت الأغاني الغيدا

    The cities shone brightly,

    As if the songs shook them.

  4. وكأن العبادَ جاءوا من البع

    ث يلاقون في النعيم الخلودا

    As if the worshippers came from being brought back to life,

    To find eternal bliss.

  5. بعثوا بالقلوب في سبل الرك

    بِ فكانت زهوره والورودا

    With hearts set on the paths of dignity,

    So it was their flowers and roses.

  6. وهمُ أعلنوا لسدَّتك النج

    وى فكانت شعارهم والنشيدا

    They declared their allegiance to you,

    So it was their motto and chant.

  7. وأقاموا فرائضَ الحبِ في الأف

    قِ فكانت راياتهم والبنودا

    They performed the duties of love sincerely,

    So it was their banners and principles.

  8. وتصافى الأقرانُ حولك حتى

    صار هذا خِلّاً لهذا ودودا

    The peers gathered around you until,

    One became a confidant and friend to another.

  9. وتحامى الذنوب من كان لا يخ

    شى عقاباً ولا يخاف وعيدا

    Transgressions faded for those who did not,

    Fear punishment or dread threats.

  10. وسعى البرُّ فيه والرفقُ حتى

    لا نرى معسراً ولا منكودا

    Righteousness and kindness spread until,

    We saw no distressed or spurned soul.

  11. واحتوى الخافقين حتى حسبنا

    أبدَ الدهر شهرَهُ المعدودا

    It embraced the anxious until we reckoned,

    Eternity but a numbered month.

  12. فاقضه في القصور يمناً وإن شئ

    ت فخذه إلى السماء صعودا

    Grant it prosperity, if you wish,

    Or take it up to the heavens in ascent.

  13. أقبلت بالعروس حورٌ يردِّد

    ن حنين القيان والتغريدا

    The brides have arrived,重复

    The cooing of the (birds) and the chirping.

  14. زانها الخلقُ قبلَ زين اللآلي

    معصمَيها وتاجها والجيدا

    They adorned it before the adornment of ornaments,

    Their bracelets, their crowns and their plaits.

  15. ملتقى النيرين يحتفل الوا

    دي به في السماء والأرض عيدا

    The meeting of the two rivers celebrates it,

    In the heavens and the earth a feast.

  16. أكبرت شأنه الملوكُ فجاءت

    تسبقُ البرق كتبُهمْ والبريدا

    Its stature was exalted by kings, so

    Their scripts and couriers arrived swiftly.

  17. لك أهدوا وكان بين الذي أه

    دوا إليك الوفود تتلو الوفودا

    To you they gifted, and between the delegations

    That came to you, were delegations.

  18. وكأني أرى الفراعين فيها

    والخواقين حاضرين شهودا

    As if I see the horsemen in it,

    And the foot soldiers, attending as witnesses.

  19. لست أدري للمهرجان أرى جن

    دَ الحمى أم لغزوةٍ محشودا

    I know not if for the festivities I see

    An army of defenders or a mobilized army.

  20. جال في كل جانب منه حتى

    حفز الريف واستفز الصعيدا

    It roamed every side therein until,

    It stirred the countryside and provoked Upper Egypt.

  21. ضاق عنه المدى ولو لم تسعه

    لتخطَّى حدوده والنجودا

    The expanse was too narrow for it, and had,

    You not contained it, it would have exceeded its bounds.

  22. واعتلى حصنه ولو لم تَرُضْهُ

    حمل النار واستثار الحديدا

    And it ascended its stronghold, and had,

    You not approved, it would have ignited fire and provoked iron.

  23. يتنادى فيها هتافاً ولولا

    أنه للسلام عاد رعودا

    Therein echoes a call, and were it not

    For it being for peace, it would have thundered.

  24. وهوَ أدَّى لك اليمين فكانت

    لك منه مواثقاً وعهودا

    It fulfilled the oath to you, so it was

    For you, covenants and pacts.

  25. هنَّأتك الدنيا بعرسك فخماً

    وأتى العام يرقبُ المولودا

    The world congratulated you on your grand wedding,

    And the year came keeping watch for the newborn.

  26. النجيب المشهود في عالم الغي

    ب المرجَّى لمن يليه رشيدا

    The esteemed one, witnessed in the unseen world, hoped for,

    As a rightly-guided successor.

  27. بالبنين الأبطال بالفتية الأق

    يال تحمي سلطانك المحدودا

    With courageous sons, virtuous youth,

    Protecting your defined reign.

  28. ومن الفتحِ أن يعود حليفاً

    لك نداً من كان خصماً عنيدا

    And of the openings is that an obstinate adversary,

    Returns to you an ally.

  29. أنت ألزمته لمصر الأمانا

    ت فكانت لها عليه قيودا

    You obliged him to Egypt’s covenants,

    So for it, they became shackles on him.

  30. ما له من ضمانها غير أن تد

    فع عنه ما يتقي وتذودا

    He has no guarantor but that it defends him,

    From what he fears and fortifies him from it.

  31. لم يكن ما أنلت أمَّتك الحر

    رة إلا لغيره تمهيدا

    What your free nation obtained,

    Was only a preparation for others.

  32. وإذا صحت العزائم فيها

    فالمرام البعيد ليس بعيدا

    And if resolves are made sincerely through it,

    Then the distant goal is not far.

  33. يا سريع الخطا إلى الغاية القص

    وى كريماً موفَّقاً محمودا

    O swift striding to the farthest goal,

    Generous, successful, praiseworthy.

  34. أنت أقوى وقد ملكت عنان ال

    دهر من أن تسير فيه وئيدا

    You are stronger having grasped the days’ rein,

    Than to walk in it tottering.

  35. بمجيد الوسائل اعتدت والأس

    باب أن تطلب المصير المجيدا

    With glorious means, you became accustomed,

    And causes to seek the glorious outcome.

  36. ولقد تفعل الشمائل ما لا

    يفعل الجيشُ قادةً وجنودا

    Attributes truly accomplish what,

    Armies, leaders and soldiers cannot.

  37. يا مُمدّ النيلين من فيض كفي

    ه يجوبُ الربى ويحيي البيدا

    O extender of the two rivers, from the abundance of your palms,

    The land is irrigated and the desolate revived.

  38. إنما الجودُ والتقى من سجايا

    ك وما أحسن التقى والجودا

    Only generosity and piety are of your traits,

    And how excellent are piety and generosity.

  39. والذي يملك الفضيلة في العا

    لم أولى بالعيش فيه رغيدا

    Whoever possesses virtue in the world,

    Is most deserving of living in it contented.

  40. جمع الصالحين في ذاتك الل

    ه وفي ملكك العظيم الوجودا

    God gathered the righteous in your being,

    And in your great kingdom and existence.

  41. ووهبت الحياة قومك حتى

    كدت تحيي آباءهم والجدودا

    You granted life to your people until,

    You almost revived their ancestors and forefathers.

  42. أصبحتْ بينهم وقائعَ بِيضاً

    بك آمالهم وكانت وعودا

    Between them became white joyous events,

    Through you, their hopes which were promises.

  43. واستوت عندك الطوائف في الأم

    ر فلم تبق سادة وعبيدا

    The groups became equal in your command,

    So there remained no masters or slaves.

  44. أنت وفقت بين أمسك واليو

    م فساوى الطريف منك التليدا

    You reconciled your past with today,

    So the elite and the commoner became equal.

  45. والتقت حولك النفوس فأضحى

    كلُّ موفٍ لما أردت مريدا

    The souls gathered around you so all,

    Loyal to what you wanted became devotees.

  46. واحترمت الشورى فلم تلقَ منها

    لك إلا الولاء والتأييدا

    You respected consultation so you did not encounter,

    Except loyalty and support.

  47. وأطلت التجريب حتى حملت ال

    عبء عن كل حامليه وحيدا

    You prolonged experimentation until you carried the,

    Burden from all other carriers, alone.

  48. والوقور المكين أنت إذا هز

    زَ الصبا النضرُ عطفَك الأملودا

    And you are dignified and forbearing, so when

    Youthful vigor shakes you, your gentle disposition turns to it.

  49. راكعٌ أنت ساجدٌ تسبق الغر

    ر الميامين رُكَّعاً وسجودا

    You bow down, you prostrate, preceding dawn’s,

    Adorers bowing and prostrating.

  50. ما تركت المحراب حتى تناول

    تَ الميادين فارساً صنديدا

    You did not leave the shrine until you assumed,

    The platforms a strong steadfast knight.

  51. آية العصر أن يصير نسوراً

    وتماسيح ناسُهُ وأسودا

    Sign of the times that its people became,

    Eagles, crocodiles, lions and leopards.

  52. وترى في العباب والجو أسطو

    لك للحرب والسلام عتيدا

    And you see in the horizons and the air, your

    Armies ready for war and peace.

  53. أثمرت طيبات جدك فيهم

    فاستحقوا على يديك المزيدا

    The goodness of your grandfather fruited in them,

    So by your hand, they deserved increase.

  54. أنت أعلى من أن تلاقيَ جهلاً

    للذي أنت صانعٌ أو جحودا

    You are above meeting ignorance,

    To what you have cultivated or ingratitude.

  55. وإذا أبطرتْ يد غير أهل

    منك عادت عليه عتباً شديدا

    And if an undeserving hand tyrannized,

    It would return to it with severe blame.

  56. جلَّ قدر المحبوب من كل نفس

    أن يكون المنازع المحسودا

    Exalted is the status of the beloved one that he be,

    The envied rival.

  57. ليس ينسى الورَّاد مختلف الأس

    باب والسبل حوضك الممدودا

    The visitors do not forget the different,

    Reasons, paths and your overflowing basin.

  58. هذه نفسي الوفية للأم

    مة أرسلتها إليك قصيدا

    This loyal soul of mine to the nation,

    I sent to you as an ode.

  59. ضاء ملء الدنيا فكان لأعنا

    ق الليالي قلائداً وعقودا

    The full moons' illumination filled the world,

    So for the dark nights there were necklaces and beads.

  60. وكأني به لك اليوم قبَّل

    تُ جبيناً وراحة وخدودا

    As if I, for you today, kissed

    A forehead, palm and cheeks.

  61. حسب فاروق بين دين ودنيا

    أن يكون الخليفةَ الموعودا

    According to Farouq between religion and world,

    To be the expected caliph.

  62. إن شعباً ترعاه بالعدل والإح

    سان أولى بطبعه أن يسودا

    If a people you herd with justice and compassion,

    They deserve by nature to dominate.
