لك في البلاد المهرجان الأكبرُ
يملى صحائفك الزمان وينشرُ
You have the grandest festival in the countries
Time dictates your pages and publishes
أحيى ابن إسمعيل ليلة ذكره
فيها له بك خير ما تتذكر
Alive is Ibn Ismail on the night of his mention
In it, you have the best that you remember
أعطى الذي أعطى أبوه مباركاً
وأناله الجد الأجل الأشهر
He who gave, gave his blessed father
And attained him the most eminent ancestry
قربان مصر إليك وهو مقدس
أضحت تثاب عليه مصر وتؤجر
An offering of Egypt to you, and it is sacred
Egypt rewards and hires for it
سر في المسامع والقلوب مكرماً
سمحاً يسايرك الربيع الأخضر
A secret in the ears and the hearts honored
Generous, the green spring accompanies you
اليوم شارف كل فرد باب ما
تقضي السماء به له وتقدر
Today, each individual nears the door of what
The heavens decree for him and determine
وخلا لمصر طريقها ومجازها
تختار فيه مصيرها وتقرر
And a path and passage cleared for Egypt
In which to choose its destiny and decide
أولى بهذي الغاية العظمى غداً
هذا الجهاد المستمر المثمر
Most deserving of this great ultimate goal tomorrow
This continuous fruitful struggle
يا مانح الشورى تعز بفضلها
مصر التي حررتها وتحرر
O granter of consultation, you are strengthened by it
Egypt which you liberated and liberates
أشركت شعبك في رعاية أمره
يرضيك منه مهيمن ومسيطر
You made your people partners in caring for its affairs
Pleased with it, sovereign and controlling
عبء قد احتملته عنه كواهل
قويت وأنت لها المعين الأقدر
A burden you carried for it, shoulders
Strengthened, and you are its most capable supporter
سر حرصت عليه ثم أذعته
وكذا يسر المطمئن ويجهر
A secret you were keen on, then propagated
And so the reassured whispers and declares
المستشيرُ بكل أمرٍ ظافرٌ
والمستبد وإن يصب متعثر
The one consulting in every matter successful
And the autocrat, even if he pours, stumbles
ومظاهر الملك المؤيد تاجه
ولواؤه ومناره والمنبر
And manifestations of the supported king his crown
And his banner, minaret, and pulpit
ودعائم استقلال كل عشيرة
آثارها وخلالها والعنصر
And pillars of independence of each tribe
Their effects and secrets and the element
ووثيقة للشعب طاعته إذا
أرضى الوزير الشعب والمستوزر
And a document for the people, their obedience if
The minister satisfies the people and the consulted
يا صاحب البلد الأمين وإنه
لأبر ما تحت السماء وأطهر
O guardian of the country, and he is
The most righteous under the sky and the purest
رجع العتاة إليه سلماً بعدما
وثبوا عليه مرجفين وأنذروا
The recalcitrant returned to him in peace after
They leapt at him, disturbing and threatening
ووفى له أحرارهم فتهافتوا
يتلمسون رضاه وهو مخير
And his free ones were loyal to him, so they scrambled
Seeking his pleasure while he had the choice
وغدا القليل الفخم فيما قدّموا
سبب الجليل الضخم فيما أخروا
And the little became precious in what they offered
The reason for the great and abundant in what they delayed
وإذا خلا الجمعان من بيض ومن
سود إليك مضى الغريب الآخر
And when the two groups of whites and blacks
Parted, the other stranger went to you
حرية الإنسان حق شائع
فيه استوى باديه والمتحضر
The freedom of man is a common right
In it the bedouin and the civilized are equal
اللّه سخر أرضه لعباده
ونهاهم أن يرهقوا ويسخِّروا
God has made His earth for His servants
And forbade them from exhausting and subjugating
هل ضاق يوماً عن بنيه موطن
فيبيح مأوى الآمنِ المستعمرُ
Did the homeland ever become too narrow for its sons
So the secure shelter permits the colonizer?
يا آل مصر تنافست زعماؤكم
فكلوا الأمور لهم جميعاً وانظروا
O people of Egypt, your leaders competed
Ruling matters for them all, so look
سيؤلف القدر المحتم شملهم
ويعود نائيهم ويصفو الأكدر
Fate will unify them
And return the distant ones and clear the turbid
يا حبذا فصل الخطاب به اكتفى
مرتابكم وتفاءل المتطير
How excellent distinguishing the discourse, being content with it
Doubters and optimists
هل بعد هذا النور في آياته
لكمُ يهيم مؤول ومفسر
After this light in its signs
Do you still waver, interpreting and explaining?
طوت السنين مراحلاً حتى انتهت
عدد السنين إليه هذي الأسطر
The years folded stages until
The number of years reached these lines
وخلا فريق بالكتاب يخطه
وأتى فريق بالكتاب يبشر
And a group left the book unfinished
While a group came with the book spreading good news
شغل القرائح والنفوس ليالياً
شغل الوغى فيها أخف وأصغر
It preoccupied minds and souls nights
Its commotion therein was lighter and smaller
إن الألى صبروا على عنت العدى
أولى إلى يوم الندى أن يصبروا
Those who endured the enemies' harassment
Are more deserving to the day of bliss to endure
وإذا أتى ميعاد مقدور فما
تستصعبون مذلَّلٌ وميسر
And when the destined time comes, then what
You find easy was difficult and made easy
أكبرتم نعمى أخ ونعيذكم
أن تجهلوا نعمى أخ أو تنكروا
You magnified my grace, brothers, and we protect you
From being ignorant of a brother's grace or denying it
أنرى من الأعمى الأصم سكوته
ذنباً ويعتذر السميع المبصر
Do I see the blind deaf one's silence
A sin, while the hearing seer excuses?
هذي عقيدتكم وذاك يقينكم
تتغير الدنيا ولا يتغير
This is your creed and that is your certainty
The world changes and it does not change
نلتم به ما لم ينله قشعم
ماضي الجناح ولم ينله قسور
You attained through it what no swift eagle attained
Nor did any falcon attain
وغدوتمُ في الشرق أكبر قدوة
لشعوبه تغريهمُ وتسيِّر
And you became the greatest role model in the East
For its peoples, tempting them and directing
سيروا على حذر من الدنيا وإن
ضاء الدجى واستأنس المتنمر
Walk carefully of the world, even if
The darkness lit up and the arrogant became friendly
وتناولوا هذا النصيب وجاهدوا
في غيره واسترسلوا واستكثروا
And take this share and strive
For others, persist and take more
يحميكم الرأي الموفق قبلما
يحميكمُ أسطولكم والعسكر
The successful opinion will protect you before
Your navy and military protect you
