I love you, Miltilda, and what heart

So gentle does not become enamored with you.

And I would not be pleased if you gave love

To this beauty, unless it kept us virtuous.

I am not jealous of Kintran, however

I am jealous that your beauty might be dishonored.

And he who loves beauty, and is sensible,

If honor leaves, beauty leaves with it.

Obey your husband and be affectionate to him

And do not let your whims loosen the reins.

If you want to keep my love, beware

Lest you diminish your husband's rights or betray him.
