1. آن للشاعر إطلاق العنانْ

    ليوفِّي حق هذا المهرجانْ

    The poet is free to let loose

    To fulfil the right of this festival

  2. وأغالي في امتداحي ملكاً

    ليَ في دولته خير مكان

    And I exaggerate in my praise of a king

    For he has the best place in his state

  3. ألهمتني كل معنى باهر

    فيه أخلاقٌ وأوصافٌ حسان

    Every splendid meaning has inspired me

    In it are beautiful morals and traits

  4. أنكر القوم اعتقادي أنه

    قادر في قبضتيه المشرقان

    The people denied my belief that he

    Is able, in his two hands, the easts

  5. أنا لا أضمر سوءاً وكفى

    أن شعري لفؤادي ترجمان

    I do not harbour ill-intent and enough

    That my poetry is the translator of my heart

  6. هل أراه عاجزاً عن نيل ما

    لم ينله أبواه السابقان

    Do I see him unable to attain what

    His two predecessors did not attain

  7. وهو عون الدين والمولى الذي

    نصر السلطان في هذا الزمان

    He is the support of the faith and the master who

    Helped the sultan in this time

  8. وأطاعته البرايا وبدا

    حكمه العادل فيهم واستبان

    The deserts obeyed him and

    His just rule appeared among them and was clear

  9. قام بالأمر فما كان سوى

    ما ابتغته في الأعادي الدولتان

    He carried out the matter so there was nothing but

    What the two states sought regarding the enemies

  10. وأجار الملك من غاصبه

    وكفى الأوطان شر الحدثان

    And the king took refuge from his usurper

    And protected the homelands from the evils of discord

  11. ثاقب الرأي حكيم حاذق

    يظهر الشدة حيناً والليان

    Penetrating in opinion, wise and prudent

    Sometimes showing firmness, sometimes gentleness

  12. وله في كل يوم همة

    وندى تثنى عليه الأُمَّتان

    And he has in every day a resolve

    And dew for which the two nations praise him

  13. يا شباب الملك يا بهجته

    دمت للملك رجاء وأمان

    O youth of the king, o his delight

    Remain for the king hopeful and secure

  14. إن عرشاً تتجلى فوقه

    لَمقامٌ يشتهيه النيِّران

    For above him shines a throne

    An abode coveted by the burning flames

  15. وحساماً تنتضيه غازياً

    لَنذيرٌ يتقيه الثقلان

    And a sword he victoriously brandishes

    A warner feared by the mountains

  16. ومناراً تبتنيه عالياً

    لِهُدى الناسِ لَباقٍ غير فان

    And a minaret he erects, lofty

    As guidance for people, lasting, not ephemeral

  17. إن مصراً لعروسٌ زفَّها

    وحلاها عيدك الأسنى وزان

    Egypt is a bride he wed

    And adorned her, your finest feast and pomp

  18. فهي في حليتها باهرة

    تملأ الأنفس أنساً وافتتان

    She is dazzling in her jewels

    Filling souls with intimacy and fascination

  19. لك ماضيها وآتيها كما

    لك غالي تاجها والصولجان

    Hers are your past and future

    Yours are her precious crown and scepter

  20. ولك النيلان ينسابان بال

    خير في قطرين صارا كالجنان

    And yours are the two Niles flowing with

    Goodness in two streams made like gardens

  21. وحصون وجيوش عودت

    مصر أن تنصر في الحرب العوان

    And fortresses and armies you returned

    For Egypt to be victorious in times of distress

  22. ولواء تنشر الأمن به

    وارف الظل شديد الخفقان

    And a banner you unfurl, security beneath it

    Its ample shade violently fluttering

  23. يا ابن توفيق أجب دعوة من

    لم يروا غيرك مولى مستعان

    O son of Tawfiq, answer the call of one

    Who has not seen but you a dependable master

  24. ولما تنويه في الأرض انتهز

    هذه الفرصة إن الوقت حان

    And when you intend good upon the land, seize

    This opportunity, for the time has come

  25. وانصر الشرق على أعدائه

    فلقد دان بنوه منذ دان

    And aid the East against its enemies

    For its people have submitted since submitting

  26. فهو لا يرضى مليكاً آمراً

    غير من يحمى حماه أن يهان

    It does not accept an ordering king

    Other than one who protects its protector from disgrace

  27. واملأ الواديَ بشراً ورضاً

    لوفود الشكر من قاص ودان

    And fill the valley with people and contentment

    For delegations of gratitude from far and near

  28. وارع شعباً طائعاً مستسلماً

    حبه فيك تجلى للعيان

    And tend to a compliant submissive people

    Their love for you has been revealed to all

  29. ومن الصدق مغالاتيَ في

    مدحك المعجز أبطال البيان

    And of my sincerity in

    Praising you, the miraculous, the masters of rhetoric

  30. ومحال أن تراني غافلاً

    عنك يوماً أو يقول القوم خان

    And it is impossible for you to see me

    Oblivious of you a day, or the people say I betrayed

  31. فتحكم في زمان خاضع

    لك بالعيدين نادى بشريان

    For you rule in a time obedient

    To you, with the two Eids, its arteries pulsed
