1. أمانة ما حملتم أيها الرسلُ

    ميسورة لكم الأسباب والسبلُ

    The mandate you bear, O messengers

    Is easy for you, the means and paths are facilitated

  2. سيروا كما شئتمُ فالقوم قد وكلوا

    إليكمُ الأمر مقروناً به الأملُ

    Go as you wish, for the people have entrusted

    You with the matter, coupled with hope

  3. رسالة النيل والأهرام ترقبها

    ممالكُ الأرض ملء الدهرِ والدولُ

    The message of the Nile and Pyramids awaits

    Kingdoms of the earth, for ages and dynasties

  4. آثرتم لقضاء الحق أنفسكم

    وحبذا لو أصاب القول والعمل

    You have chosen to establish truth with your lives

    Best if words and deeds hit their mark

  5. إن الألى بذلوا في الأمس ما سئلوا

    أولى همُ اليوم باسترداد ما بذلوا

    Those who yesterday gave all they were asked

    Today most deserve to regain what they gave

  6. وهل يلام على الجهل الرجال ولم

    يؤذن لهم بتقصّي كل ما جهلوا

    And how can men be blamed for ignorance when

    They were not allowed to investigate all they did not know

  7. ما كان إلا عتاباً ما جرى ومضى

    بين الزعيمين لا غيظ ولا دغل

    What happened and passed was but reproach, not spite or fraud

    Between the two leaders

  8. فما تعدى فريق قصد صاحبه

    ولا تمشت إلى أغراضه العلل

    Neither side transgressed against the other

    Nor were motives infected with malice

  9. قد لان ذا كرماً واشتد ذا شمماً

    كلا النظيرين في ميدانه بطل

    One noble, one obstinate, the two rivals

    Each a champion in his own domain

  10. هل كان أليق بالتوفيق بينهما

    سوى دعاتهما لو أنهم عقلوا

    Was it not best to reconcile them

    Had their callers been rational?

  11. ومن أحب فتى أصفى إخاه له

    إن كان يوماً على الإثنين يتكل

    Whoever loves a youth of sterling character

    Will one day rely on both

  12. ويح الحمى إن تمادى أهله شيعاً

    وويح من نصروا فيه ومن خذلوا

    Woe to the zealotry if its adherents go too far

    And woe to those who aided it or abandoned it

  13. أنطلب اليوم أن تخفى مقاتلنا

    عن الرماة ونحن اليوم نقتتل

    Seeking today to hide our warriors

    From archers while we fight each other

  14. ماذا على أول الأحرار لو تبعت

    أيدي الأواخر ما همت به الأُوَل

    What do the first of the free owe

    If the hands of stragglers mimic the first?

  15. كونوا لمن مهد المسعى وقربه

    إليكمُ خير من يرعى ومن يصل

    Be to the one who paved and shortened the path

    For you better than one who shepherds or connects

  16. عسى غداً لكم العقبى فيكبركم

    من كان بالأمس يدعوكم لتعتزلوا

    May you tomorrow have the upper hand

    Of those who yesterday urged you to withdraw

  17. أودِّعُ الركب ميموناً وأُودِعُهُ

    سريرة الشعر فيما راح يحتمل

    I bid the caravan farewell auspiciously, and bid

    The poetry of my soul farewell as it bears its load

  18. وأرقب البرق يروي خير ما طربت

    به بلاد وغالى فيه محتفل

    And watch the lightning relate the best

    Of what delighted countries and was celebrated

  19. عوجوا بكل عظيم في سبيلكمُ

    وسائلوا كيف ينجي قومه الرجل

    Aid every great one in your path

    And ask how a man saves his people

  20. غريمكم طالب فصل الخطاب فلا

    يأخذكمُ وجل منه ولا خجل

    Your adversary seeks decisive discourse—neither

    Let him daunt you nor be shy of him

  21. فإن تروا من حديدٍ مائجٍ جبلاً

    على العباب فلا يفزعكم الجبل

    If you see a mountain of cutting iron on the shore

    Let not the mountain startle you

  22. وإن تروا حلل الفولاذ سابغة

    على الجنود فلا تبهركم الحلل

    If you see coats of steel adorning

    The soldiers—let not the coats dazzle you

  23. الحق أصبح أقوى من غريمكمُ

    فما تقاربه الأهواء والغيل

    Truth has become stronger than your enemy

    Desires and grudges cannot diminish it

  24. لا تستهينوا بيوم في ضيافته

    فهو الحياة لواديكم أو الأجل

    Do not make light of a day in its hospitality

    It is either life for your valley or death

  25. همّوا بها فرصة والشرق منتبهٌ

    والغرب مضطربٌ بالخطب مشتغل

    Attend to it as an opportunity—the East is rousing

    The West troubled, busy with calamities

  26. إن كان للجدل العقبى ولو بعدت

    كان الكفيل بما ترجونه الجدل

    If logic has the final say, though remote

    It is logic that guarantees your hopes

  27. ومن سعى بصحيح من عقائده

    فليس يعوزه حول ولا حيل

    Whoever acts on sound beliefs

    Will lack neither stratagems nor strength

  28. خذوا البراهين في ماض لأمتكم

    وحاضر كابر ينمو ويكتمل

    Take the proofs from your nation's past

    And impressive present, growing and fulfilling

  29. ولا تبالوا بما ضج الرواة به

    على البريء من الدعوى وما نقلوا

    And do not heed those who clamored

    Against the innocent, of claims and tales

  30. واستشهدوا بضيوف قبل أرضكمُ

    في الخصب والعذب من أخلاقكم نزلوا

    Take as witness those guests who preceded you

    In the fertile and sweet oasis of your morals dwelled

  31. كادت تصيرهم من أهلها فئة

    آثار ما شربوا منها وما أكلوا

    A faction they almost became

    Traces of what they drank and ate remain

  32. وقد أصر على استقلاله وطن

    سمحٌ أباه عليه القوم أو قبلوا

    A generous homeland insisted on its independence

    Whether people granted or refused it

  33. حرية الناس أغلى كل ما عرفوا

    من الوجود غلوا فيها أو اعتدلوا

    People's freedom is the most precious

    Of existence, whether exalted or moderated

  34. ماذا على معشر همّوا بحقهمُ

    من الحياة تقاضوه أو ابتهلوا

    What then of a group who strove for their right

    To life, demanded or implored it?

  35. واليوم موعد ما شاء القضاء لهم

    كالنجم لا عجل فيه ولا مهل

    Today the destined time for them

    Is like a star, neither rushed nor stalled

  36. خذوه فضلاً حبوه بعدما اعتذروا

    حيناً وديناً قضوه بعدما مطلوا

    Take it as a favor, love it after they apologized

    For a while, fulfill it after they waited

  37. إن أحسنوا الأمر فالحمد الجدير بهم

    وإن أساءوه فهو الحادث الجلل

    If they do right, deserved praise for them,

    and if wrong, it is the momentous accident

  38. وإن رفعتم عن الوادي حمايتهم

    فمالهم عوض عنها ولا بدل

    If you lift your protection from the valley

    They have no substitute or replacement

  39. مصير أمتكم للدهر تكتبه

    أقلام أبرارها لا البيض والأسل

    The destiny of your nation till the end of time

    Will be written by its righteous, not the white or black (clan)

  40. سيخرجون كرام الصنع فيه وما

    كانوا عليه بغاة حينما دخلوا

    They will emerge as honorable in it, and were not

    Transgressors when they entered it
