    And send thunder upon the faithful

  3. حملتها الجنود من قبل ما يح

    ملها البرق خاطفاً والبريدا

    The soldiers carried it before what delights

    The lightning carried it, snatching, and the mail

  4. كلمات الرسول أم سيف جلا

    د نرى بينما تعد العهودا

    The words of the Messenger or the sword of a hero

    We see, while you count promises

  5. قد بلونا خفيَّ أمرك من قب

    ل فلم نلق بعد شيئاً جديدا

    We have tested your secret order before

    So we have not found anything new yet

  6. زاد ما تطلبين من مدن المل

    ك وقد كنت تطلبين الحدودا

    Increase what you ask of the king's cities

    You used to ask for borders

  7. وهل النيل مطلق في مجاري

    ه غداً بعد ما أقمت السدودا

    Is the Nile really free in its course

    Tomorrow, after you built the dams?

  8. تمنعين الخصيب سقياً إذا شئ

    ت وتروين إن أردت البيدا

    You prevent the fertile from watering if you wish

    And you water if you want the desert

  9. غيِّري رأيَ من أنبتِ وأعلي

    ه سفيراً أو أرجعيه عميدا

    Change the opinion of those you raised and exalted

    An ambassador or return him a chieftain

  10. من أبى أن يكون جودك قيداً

    كيف يرضى في الهوان قيودا

    Whoever refuses to be bound by your generosity

    How can he be content in humiliation and shackles?

  11. إن أجزت الجحود بعد اعتراف

    فمن العدل أن يجيز الجحودا

    If you allow denial after confession

    It is just that denial allows the same

  12. عف عما عرضته بعد ما را

    ح يراه لقتله تمهيدا

    Excuse what you have presented after you were content

    To see it as paving the way to murder

  13. وأبت مصر أن تباع وتشرى

    وترى الحر موثقاً مصفودا

    And Egypt refused to be bought and sold

    And to see the free man bound and fettered

  14. وخليق بالحر أن يدع المو

    جود إن لم يُعِدْ به المفقودا

    And it is fitting for the free man to leave what is lost

  15. ما تمنى العسير من طلب الحق

    ق صريحاً ولا أراد البعيدا

    What the difficult desired of the clear request of rights

  17. وإلامَ الذي وسيلتُه الصد

  18. غير مغن أخو البصيرة والرأ

    ي إذا لم يكن جريئاً جليدا

    Other than the brother of insight and opinion

    When he is not bold and determined

  19. أحريصاً على المواثيق مختا

    راً تريدين أم مسوقاً مقودا

    Keen on covenants, choosing

    Do you want him guided or led?

  20. فإذا أخلد استهنت وإن ثا

    ر تمثلته أثيماً مريدا

    So if he persists you belittle him, and if he revolts

    You portray him as a deviant sinner

  21. ما طلته الأيام حتى تناهت

    فإذا وعد مصر عاد وعيدا

    The days did not end until they were exhausted

    So if Egypt promised, it kept its promise

  22. وإذا دولة المساواة عادت

    تقسم الناس سادة وعبيدا

    And if the state of equality returned

    It divides people into masters and slaves

  23. أكذا يغرس المودة من شا

    ءَ حليفاً على الزمان عتيدا

    Is this how friendship is planted by one

    A steadfast ally across time?

  24. لا يدوم الصديق إلا إذا كا

    ن مفيداً بوده مستفيدا

    No friend endures unless he is

    Useful, his affection advantageous

  25. أيّ حق نناله من غريم

    لا يبالي بالعالمين شهودا

    What right do we get from an enemy

    Who does not care if the world bears witness?

  26. أي قوم يغري بنا بعد ما أغ

    رى بأهل العراق جاراً عنيدا

    What people tempt us after the one who tempted

    The people of Iraq, a stubborn neighbor?

  27. لحقت مصر بالعراق وأضحى ال

    نيل مثل الفرات يجري صديدا

    Egypt has joined Iraq, and the Nile

    Has become like the Euphrates, flowing restrained

  28. سيرى صبرنا عليه جميلاً

    إن يكن بأسه علينا شديدا

    It will see our patience with it as beautiful

    If its might against us is severe

  29. وسيلقى بعد الأبي أباة

    ووفود الجهاد تتلو الوفودا

    And it will find after the refusal, refusal

    And the delegations of jihad follow each other

  30. ويرى المستبد إن كان ما سا

    ر إليه ممكناً أم مبيدا

    And the tyrant will see if what he went to

    Is possible or foiled

  31. لا يفوت الضعيف للدهر تحوي

    لٌ ولا يضمن القويُّ الخلودا

    The weak are not immune to the changes of fate

    Nor are the strong guaranteed eternity

  32. وانهزام الجيوش شر من الرأ

    ي يُلاقي النكير والتفنيدا

    The defeat of armies is worse than the opinion

    That meets condemnation and refutation
