شمس الجمال أذاب حبك مهجتي

بحرارة التبريح والأشجانِ

The sun of beauty melted my soul

With the heat of parting and passions

صارت بخاراً في الهواء وإنما

ذرّاتها تمتاز بالخفقانِ

It became vapor in the air, yet

Its particles pulsate

في كل خافقة لسانٌ يشتكي

ألم الفراق ولوعة الهجران

In every heartbeat a tongue complains

The pain of separation and agony of estrangement

يا شمس طال بعاد مهجتيَ التي

أكل البلى من بعدها جثماني

O sun how long has my soul been distant

Which absence eroded my body

حل الشتاء فأشبهي شمس السما

ء وخفِّضي من هذه النيران

Winter came so be like the sun

And reduce these fires

فلعل برد الرفق يهبط مهجتي

من جوها كالوابل الهتّان

Maybe the coolness of gentleness brings down my soul

From its atmosphere like heavy rain

وإذا أردت هديتها الجثمان فاخ

تلطت به وحييت بعد الآن

And if you want to give life to the body after this

Mix with it and revive it after now
