لا نقبل الملامَ في اليابانِ

لأنهم أوفى بني الإنسانِ

We do not blame Japan

For they are the most loyal of mankind

فما ودادُنا لهم تصنُّعُ

لكنه من طبعنا تطوُّعُ

Our affection for them is not pretense

But comes naturally from our disposition

إن قلدونا أتقنوا التقليدا

وأحسنوا القديم والجديدا

If they imitated us, they perfected imitation

And improved both old and new
