1. خذوا السلام قضاءً غيرَ مردودِ

    واستقبلوا الصلحَ حقاً غير محدودِ

    Take peace as an irrevocable decree,

    And accept reconciliation as an unlimited right,

  2. وأنشدوا اليوم لاستقلال دولتكم

    حرَّ البيان وقدسيّ الأناشيد

    And chant today for the independence of your country,

    Free eloquence and sacred hymns,

  3. وكبروا للواءٍ فوق حصنكمُ

    عال ونورٍ على الآفاق ممدود

    And exalt the banner above your fortress,

    Lofty and light spread across horizons,

  4. وطاولوا الدولة الكبرى بما صنعت

    آيات كل كبير النفس صنديد

    And blame the great state for what it has done,

    Signs of every arrogant and obstinate one.

  5. واستوثقوا من رجاء كان بينكمُ

    وبينهم بين تقريب وتبعيد

    And be certain of a hope that was between you

    And them, between rapprochement and estrangement,

  6. عقبى الذي جدَّ من عزمٍ ومن شممٍ

    وأجر ما طال من همٍّ وتسهيد

    The reward that the determined and valiant strove for,

    And the reward for prolonged anxiety and preparation,

  7. طلبتمُ وقبلتم من وثائقهم

    ما ليس من عنت فيه وتعقيد

    You sought and accepted from their documents

    What was without hardship and complication,

  8. واخترتمُ وتلقوا مكبرين لكم

    ما اخترتمُ بعد تجريب وتمهيد

    And you chose and welcomed magnifying you

    What you chose after testing and preparation,

  9. ونلتمُ في السنين الخمس ما عجزت

    عنه الفراعين من ملك وتشييد

    And in five years you attained what

    The giants failed to attain in kingship and construction,

  10. وهنأتكم رفاقٌ في مجاورة

    وفي مرام وإيمان وتوحيد

    And comrades in neighborhood congratulated you,

    In purpose, faith and unity,

  11. بكل سعي برئ غير متهمٍ

    عَنَا لكم كل جبار ومرِّيد

    With every innocent effort not suspect,

    That spared you every tyrant and cultist,

  12. وللقوى أسانيد يدل بها

    إذا استعان ضعيف بالأسانيد

    And the forces have supports indicating,

    When the weak seek aid from supports,

  13. بعض المقاليد في أيديكمُ سبب

    من الزمان إلى كل المقاليد

    Some keys in your hands a reason

    From time to all keys,

  14. وقد رضينا بدعواهم إلى أجل

    رضا القنوع بمصدوق المواعيد

    And we were satisfied with their call to a period,

    The content's consent with the truthful promises,

  15. للشرق يومكم المعزى ممالكه

    بناضر مثله ريان مشهود

    For the East your comforting day, its kingdoms

    With blossoms like it, lush and witnessed,

  16. سبقتم ودعوتم كل ذي صلة

    بكم إلى أسوة فيكم وتقليد

    You preceded and invited everyone affiliated with you

    To emulate you and follow you,

  17. جلوتمُ عرضاً كان الهوان لكم

    وإن همُ حسبوه غير مقصود

    You ignored an offer that was humiliation to you

    Though they reckoned it unintended,

  18. وهو الغليل الذي في صدر منتقم

    وهو الطعام الذي في جوف ممعود

    It is the bitterness within an avenger’s chest

    It is the food within a worshiped one’s stomach,

  19. ضحيتمُ لعزيز بعد خالقكم

    بما غلا وعبدتم خير معبود

    You sacrificed for the Almighty after your Creator

    What is most valuable, and worshipped the best Worshiped,

  20. خير من العيش في نعماء مغتصب

    حرية العيش في جرباء صيخود

    Better than living in wrongfully seized bliss

    Is the freedom of living in barren desolation,

  21. عاهدتم القوم أحراراً ومثلهم

    منزه العهد عن عقد وتقييد

    You covenanted with the people as free and like them

    A covenant far from binding and constraint,

  22. وآمنوا بالذي آمنتمُ سبباً

    إلى مصير كما ترجون محمود

    And they believed, as you believed, a cause

    To a destiny you wish for, glorious,

  23. وصرتمُ حلفاء القوم تجمعكم

    والقوم حسنى ودود عند مودود

    And you became allies of a people, united with you,

    And good, affectionate people, at appointed times,

  24. إذا انجلوا فلهم من ود مصر غنى

    عن المعاقل فيها والمراصيد

    If they are fair, Egypt’s affection will suffice them

    Against citadels among them and watchtowers,

  25. فليس ترضى من الأيام ناهضة

    والغل في يدها والعقد في الجيد

    For she does not accept, in her heyday,

    Injustice in her hand and knots in her neck,

  26. منّوا بقدر ولو منّوا بملكهم

    وهم بمصر لكانت آفة الجود

    If they wished with a measure, even if they wished with their rule,

    And were in Egypt, it would be the bane of generosity,

  27. نعمت سياسة قومٍ منكمُ فطنوا

    ففجروا الماء من بين الجلاميد

    Successful is the policy of your prudent people,

    Who unleashed the water between rocks,

  28. وللفريق الذي أدلى بحيلته

    فضل الفريق الذي أدلى بتهديد

    And for the group that revealed its cunning,

    Is the virtue of the group that revealed threats,

  29. لذاك في لينه أعذاره ولذا

    أعذاره في مجافاة وتشديد

    So for that one in its gentleness are its excuses,

    And for this one its excuses in aloofness and harshness,

  30. إن كان فينا مغالٍ في مطالبه

    ففيهمُ فئة شتى المكاييد

    If among us is one excessive in his demands,

    Among them is a diverse cunning group,

  31. خذوا من الأمر ما لا بد منه لكم

    زاداً لمرحلة أخرى ومجهود

    Take from the matter what you inevitably need

    Provision for another endeavor and effort,

  32. لشاتكم مرح في الأرض متسع

    من بعد ما خرجت من مسرح السيد

    Your chatter in the spacious earth spreads

    After exiting the theater of the master,

  33. لا نيلكم عن مجاريه بمنصرف

    يوماً ولا الهرم العالي بمهدود

    You will never divert from its courses,

  34. للقوم من ثمر الوادي نصيبهمُ

    وحظُّهم من رحيق فيه مورود

    Nor the high pyramid be razed,

    For the people is their share of the valley’s fruit,

  35. إذا تناولتمُ منه كفايتكم

    فلتنقع البيد منه غلة البيد

    And their fortune of exuded nectar within it,

    If you take from it your sufficiency,

  36. والأرض سائرة تمضي إلى أمد

    تسترجع الأرض فيه كل مفقود

    Then let the remaining yield benefit the destitute,

    And the earth moves on, proceeding to an appointed time,

  37. وللهداة فتوح ليس يدركها

    أقوى الغزاة بتسليح وتجنيد

    When the earth reclaims all that was lost,

    And for the guided are conquests not attained

  38. وللموفق بين الناس طاعتهم

    لا للدعاة إلى بغض وتبديد

    By the mightiest conquerors with armament and conscription,

    And for the reconciler amongst people is their obedience,

  39. ملوك مصر ملوك الأرض من قدم

    وما أعز وأغلى بعد تجديد

    Not for the inviters to hatred and division,

    The Kings of Egypt, Kings of earth forever,

  40. ومصر مملكة من قبل ما شرفت

    أرضٌ بحكم وذو ملك بتمجيد

    And what is more honorable and precious after renewal,

    And Egypt a kingdom before what ennobled it

  41. من قبل عرش سليمانٍ أريكتها

    وبعد محرابها محراب داوود

    A land of rule and one of kingship by glorification,

    Before Solomon's throne established it

  42. ومصر يخطب فيها كل مبتهل

    هاد ويهتف فيها كل غرّيد

    And after its prayer niche, David's prayer niche,

    And in Egypt supplicates every devout guide,

  43. ولا لمصر غريم غير معترف

    ولا لمصر وكيل غير معهود

    And chirps in it every songbird,

    And Egypt has no enemy other than the unacknowledged,

  44. أعاد في فرع إسماعيل سؤددَها

    عهدٌ أحق بتقديسٍ وتخليد

    And no representative other than the appointed,

    An era restored its pillars in Ismail’s branch,

  45. أحق باللقب الأعلى بنو ملك

    توارثوا العرش عنه ناضر العود

    More deserving of sanctity and perpetuation,

    More deserving of the highest title are the royal sons

  46. جلالة التاج تتلوها وتتبعها

    حرية الشعب من بيض ومن سود

    Who inherited the throne from him, radiant family tree,

    The majesty of the crown followed by and accompanied

  47. حب الأريكة منا ما رأى ويرى

    رب الأريكة من حب وتأييد

    The people’s freedom, both white and black,

    Our love for the throne is what saw and sees

  48. يفدى المتوَّجَ غادينا ورائحنا

    ونطلب الرفق بالأسرى الصناديد

    The Lord of the throne, of love and support,

    We ransom the crowned, our coming and going,

  49. جزى المتوَّجُ في الوادي وزارته

    بما أرادته من خير وتسديد

    And we request leniency for the imprisoned nobles,

    May the crowned reward in the valley his government,

  50. وما تريد من العطف الحميد على

    نائي المزار وراء البحر مصدود

    For what it wanted of goodness and integrity,

    And what it wants of kind care for

  51. يعوذ بالملك الشعب الحفي به

    من الرزيئة في أحراره الصيد

    The distant shrine beyond the blocked sea,

    The people under royal protection seek refuge with the King

  52. إذا أتم الصنيع القادرون على

    إتمامه وطَّدوه أي توطيد

    From vileness amongst its freemen prey,

    If the capable complete a deed, solidifying it,

  53. أين الذين نأى صرف الزمان بهم

    عنا فنصحبهم في بهجة العيد

    Strengthening it however it is strengthened,

    Where are those whom the course of time distanced

  54. وهل يطيب بموجود بنو وطن

    ومن بنيه فريق غير موجود

    From us, so we accompany them in celebration’s delight,

    Can gatherers and celebrators be comfortable

  55. وهل تذكّر محشودٌ ومحتفلٌ

    عناء معتقل منا ومصفود

    While some of us are imprisoned and shackled?

    Be reassured of the stubborn foe, and the foe has not

  56. أنطمئن إلى الخصم العنيد وما

    تراجع الخصم عن نفي وتبعيد

    Retreated from enmity and estrangement,

    Egypt was not torn by ravagers like her tearing

  57. لم تشق مصر بغلّاب كشقوتها

    بحاسد لكمُ منكم ومحسود

    By an envious one from you, envied amongst you,

    How much your foe sought aid against you from you

  58. كم استعان عليكم خصمكم بكمُ

    فبات يطعن مخضوداً بمخضود

    Thus he stays, stabbed by one stabbed,

    Take the path to the distant one and his partisans

  59. خذوا الطريق إلى النائي وشيعته

    إن الطريق إليه غير مسدود

    For the path to him is not obstructed,

    And pass him the letter of the people to read

  60. وناولوه كتاب القوم يقرؤه

    عليكمُ قبل تصديق وتسديد

    To you before ratifying and endorsing,

    May he with truth abundant for his nation

  61. عساه بالحق موفوراً لأمته

    يأتي الخصوم وما عادى وما عودي

    Come to the adversaries, whoever opposed and assaulted

    So he will be reassured of them after his suspicion,

  62. فيطمئن إليهم بعد ريبته

    ويطمئنون إن نادى وإن نودي

    And they reassured if he called or was called,

    Then do not be an argument for them, of resentment

  63. فلا تكونوا عليهم حجة لشجٍ

    من الأباة ولا شكوى لمنكود

    Of stubbornness, nor complaint of one discontent,

    Every era I have poetry I repeat

  64. لي كلَّ آونةٍ شعرٌ تردده

    عني التصاريف فيكم أي ترديد

    The permutations amongst you however I repeat,

    And I am not in my beginning ever suspect

  65. ولست في مبدئي يوماً بمتهم

    ولست في غايتي يوماً برعديد

    Nor in my end ever threatening,
