Would you be pleased, O Crowe, to be called

The chief of the people in the art of destruction,

And be angered by the accusation in theaters

Of innate evil that brought you disgrace?

You fell victim to pens that weep for you,

With cannons filling the land in your defense,

And it was decreed that the book of a narrator

Would be harsher on you than sword and fire.

Yet the world's prevention of you only led

To lessons learned and wisdom gained.

So take pride, o state of the noble pen,

For today you are most deserving of pride.
