Do you blame me for comparing your cheeks to fire,

And your figure to a sharp sword,

And your heart to the might of iron when I complain,

Although the resistant enemy has been gentle to me?

The covetous may find fault with the most beautiful object of desire,

Fleeing from an envious or aggressive rival,

Yet that is a fault that makes me love you more, if I were reasonable.

Who has ever survived you unscathed?
