1. مد سلطانه فعز عليهم

    أن يروه منازعاً جبارا

    His authority spread, so it was difficult for them

    To see him as a rival tyrant

  2. وأبى أن يزحزحوه عن المل

    ك فقالوا على الحكومة ثارا

    And he refused to be removed from the kingdom

    So they declared rebellion against the government

  3. فزعت منه دولةٌ تملأ الدن

    يا جنوداً وتملك الأقطارا

    A state filled with soldiers and ruling lands

    Was alarmed by him

  4. وهو من قومه وأعدائه مت

    تهم الجاه أين سار ودارا

    While he deemed his people and enemies

    Ambitious - where did he go and settle?

  5. كيف يقوى الشهيد من بعد ما كا

    بد من كل جانب تيارا

    How can the martyr gain strength after

    Being surrounded by currents from all sides?

  6. واشتفى في أخ تعثَّر في اللي

    لِ رجال لا يأمنون النهارا

    He conversed with a brother who stumbled in the

    Night, men who don't feel safe in daylight

  7. ما جنى غير أنه كاد للبا

    غي عليهم وأدرك الأسرارا

    He gained nothing but nearly destroyed

    The tyrants and uncovered the secrets

  8. وتحدى الغريم فيما نواه

    فتقاضى الغريم منه الثارا

    And challenged the enemy in his intentions

    So the enemy avenged him

  9. كلما هدَّ من بنى مصر فرداً

    هدَّ مما بنته مصر جدارا

    Whenever he destroyed a pillar of Egypt,

    Egypt rebuilt a stronger wall

  10. أيها الشامتون في فدية اليو

    م أأنتم ملكتمُ الأقدارا

    O you who gloat over today's ransom

    Have you mastered fate?

  11. لم أزل خائفاً عليكم وإن حا

    سنتموه المخادع الغدارا

    I remain fearful for you even as

    You flatter the treacherous deceiver

  12. وأرى يومكم قريباً لدى من

    جعل السخط والرضا أدوارا

    And I see your day coming soon with Him

    Who alternates wrath and contentment

  13. والذي من أذاه لاقى أخوكم

    سترون الأشدَّ منه مرارا

    He from whose harm your brother suffered

    You will see worse bitterness from Him

  14. والذي كان أمس يُخفي يديه

    بينكم جاءكم عياناً جهارا

    And He who yesterday hid His hands

    Among you comes openly today

  15. ما الذي يلزم المحكَّم وهو ال

    مستجاب المطاع أن يتوارى

    Why should the Arbitrator, whose decree

    Is fulfilled, whose command obeyed, hide?

  16. هنتمُ كلكم عليه فلا غُي

    يابكم يتقي ولا الحُضَّارا

    You all advised him, yet neither absence

    Nor presence protects him from fear

  17. فإذا شاء عدكم من موالي

    ه وإن شاء عدكم أحرارا

    When He wants He counts you loyal

    And when He wants He counts you free

  18. خطبكم في الطريد أهون عندي

    من عذاب الجرحى وذل الأسارى

    Your situation in exile is less to me

    Than the agony of the wounded and shame of captives

  19. أخرجوه من الديار إذا كا

    ن بها مكثُه يضر الديارا

    Expel him from the homelands if his

    Stay there harms the homelands

  20. وخذوه قربانكم عند قهّا

    ركمُ إن بلغتم القهارا

    And take him as your sacrifice

    To your subduer, if you reach the Almighty

  21. فعسى من ضحية اليوم أن لا

    تدعوا بعدها له أعذارا

    So perhaps after today's sacrifice

    You won't need to make excuses for him

  22. أي شيء سيرضيه عنكم

    ويقيكم حديده والنارا

    What will satisfy Him about you

    And protect you from His iron and fire?

  23. لا نجاة إلا بجمعكم الشم

    لَ قوياً وبالنفوس كبارا

    No salvation but in your strong unity

    And with great souls
