The kittens grew quiet and left their game
And I had grown used to their play and noise
My family settled in al-Khornaq and Dhat al-Shub
They settled in Hirat exhausted, followed by the pigeons
An unerring, keen-sighted group
Stout-hearted when they raised the dead as they passed by
And curled up like a tightly rolled turban sash
I fulfill my pledge to them and they bring me
To the palace of the kings and nobles
And with them as ransom for whatever my feet attained
The palace of Qabus - yes and my father
With victory you gained the kingdom, the people knew
One who did not betray or waver
One day more loyal than you they knew
Fierce and quick to pursue
