ربعَ الغَمامِ عَلى مَرابِع فاسِ

دارَ العُلومِ وَمَعلَمَ الإِيناسِ

Upon the rectangles of Fez the clouds' quarters,

Home of knowledge and inspirer of mankind.

ماوى السِيادة حَيثُ أَنوارُ الهُدى

تُغني عَنِ المَشكاةِ وَالنِبراسِ

Abode of rule where illumination of guidance sings,

Making unnecessary the lamp and torch.

حَيثُ اِستَقَرَّ المُلكُ يَحمي بَيضَةَ ال

إِسلام مِنهُ بِالنَدى وَالباسِ

Where the kingdom settled, protecting the egg of Islam

With dew and clothing.

فَرعٌ نَما مِن هاشِمٍ في تُربَةٍ

كانَ الكَفِيّ لَها مِنَ الأَغراسِ

A branch grew from Hashim in fertile soil,

For which the palms were sufficient of the saplings.

في ذُروَةِ الشَرَفِ الَّذي ما فَوقَهُ

شَرَفٌ لِمُعتَبِرٍ يُرى في الناسِ

At the peak of honor, above which no

Honor can be seen by one who observes people.

وَلَقَد بَعَثتُ مَعَ الرَّسول تَحيّةً

لِجَنابِهِ مِسكيَّة الأَنفاسِ

With the messenger I sent greetings

To his essence, the life of breaths.

لِتُذَكِّرَ العَهدَ القَديم وَإِن يَكُن

لَم ينسَ مِنهُ تَصَرُّفَ الأَحراسِ

To remind of the ancient covenant, even if

He did not forget the march of time.

عَهدٌ كَأَيّام الصِبا حَيثُ الصِبا

غَضٌّ كَصَفوِ الراح وَسطَ الكاسِ

A covenant like the days of youth, where youth

Is tender like the purity amid the cup.

نَور العُرارة نَوره وَنَسيمُهُ

نَشرُ الخُزامى في اِخضِرار الآسِ

The light of meadows his light, and his breeze

Spreads the chamomile in the greening of days.
