إِذا جُعِلَ المَرءُ الَّذي كانَ حازِماً

يُحَلُّ بِهِ حَلَّ الحُوارِ وَيُحمَلُ

When the decisive man is made

To compromise and tolerate

فَلَيسَ لَهُ في العيشَ خَيرٌ يُريدُهُ

وَتَكفينه مَيتاً أَعَفُّ وَأَجمَلُ

He then desires no good in life

And to bury him dead is best

أَتاني رَسولُ المَوتِ يا مَرحَباً بِهِ

وَيا حَبَّذا هُو مُرسَلاً حينَ يُرسَلُ

The messenger of death has come to me, welcome!

And blessed be he when he is sent
