علاؤك مضمون وسعدك واضح

وسعيك للدُّنيا وللدِّين ناجح

Your glory is assured and your fortune clear,

Your striving for worldly and religious success triumphant.

مغالق أبواب الفتوح كثيرة

وفي كفِّك العليا لهنَّ مفاتح

You have unlocked many closed doors of conquest,

And in your supreme hand are their keys.

لذلك دوَّخت البلاد فطرفها

جميعاً إلى أعلام سعدك طامح

Thus you have subjugated the lands, and all

Their banners aspire to your glorious standards.

وأبرأت أدواء الجزائر بعدما

ألمَّ بها خطب من الشرِّ فادح

You have cured the illnesses of Algiers after

It was afflicted with grievous tribulations.

ألا قل لأرباب الردى بميرقة

فربتما أودى النصيحة ناصح

Say to the people of wickedness in Mirkah,

"Our advising brings reform while your preaching corruption."

ردوا مشرع الأمر العزيز فإنه

إلى الرشد داع وغلى الغي صافح

Restore the honored ruler's decree, for it

Calls to righteousness and eschews wickedness.

وأصبحت الأمثال مضروبة به

سماحا إذا أعطى وبأسا إذا أبلى

And you have become the paragon of generosity

When giving and courage when drawing the sword.

لك الشيمة الغراء غير مشارك

إلى الهمة العليا إلى السيرة المثلى

To you belongs sublime character without peer,

Exalted ambition and exemplary conduct.

وفيك من المنصور شتى محاسن

تأملتها حساً وحققتها عقلا

In you are various virtues of al-Mansur

That I have contemplated and verified rationally.

وما غاب من أحييت بالشبه ذكره

ولم يفقد الضرغام من وجد الشبلا

What was absent you revived through resemblance,

So the cub was not lost when finding the lion.

تنقلت من قصر لآخر دونه

فأكسبته لما حللت به الفضلا

You moved from one palace to another,

Gaining merit wherever you settled.

فهذا كما جَرَّت عروس حُلِيَّها

وذاك كما اجتابت معاوزها ثكلا

One is like a bride adorned with her jewelry,

The other like a grieving widow in her rags.

هنيئاً لربع أنت كوكب أفقه

وأهل لقصرقد غَدوت له أهلا

Congratulations to the land of which you are the star

And worthy of the palace you have made home.

فما أنت إلاَّ الروح أعضاؤه الورى

يصرفها رأساً متى شاء أو رجلا

You are but the spirit whose limbs are the people,

Directing them as you wish, foot or head.

لئن حفك القصَّاد شرقاً ومغربا

وباتوا إلى جدواك قد ملؤوا السُّبلا

If the archers have surrounded you east and west,

Filling the roads to your bounty,

فما ذاك إلاَّ أن بشرك لم يحل

قطوباً وذاك الجود لم يستحل بخلا

That is only because your good news has spread,

And that generosity was not marred by stinginess.

بقيت بقاءَ الدهر لا تبرح العلا

ولا تسأم التقوى ولا تفقد الفضلا

You remain eternally lofty, never descending,

Nor tiring of piety or losing merit.

ومجدك عال لا يخط ولا يمي

وسعدك غضٌّ لا يبيد ولا يبلى

Your glory is high, blemishless, enduring,

Your fortune ever verdant, never fading.
