ورب سوس من الاترج

متقد اللون اتقاد السرج

And the lord of juices from the squeezed

Red in color, burning like a lamp

يعوم من انائه في مزج

مجت عليه النحل أي مج

Floating from his vessel in blending

The bees swarmed over it, what a swarm

فقام من رضابها في لج

بظاهر كقطع الخلنج

So it rose from their beating in the depths

Appearing like pieces of sweetmeat

أو العقار اعتللت بالمزج

غصت به فوهاء مثل البذج

Or medicine that was mixed with blending

Its foam was choked like crushed dates

سليمة من كلف وسحج

نقية كالعاج أو كالثلج

Pure from any husks and chaff

As pure as ivory or snow

قد خرطت على قوي النسج

حرم تنوب الخيل بالبرطنج

It was filtered through strong fabric

Forbidden, horses are replaced with oranges

أفضل ما أبغي وما أرجي

وما أعد للطعام الفج

Better than what I want and hope for

And what I prepare for the slowly cooked meal

وكل مأكول بطئ النضج

وتخم تغصني وتشجي

And any food that takes time to ripen

Fattens and satisfies me

بهر لها كالسائق المزجي

يوسع ما ضاق لنا من نهج

Dazzled by it like the blender

Expanding what was narrowed for us from the path

يبرئ من كل أذى وينجي

ويجعل الافواه ذات أرج

Healing from any harm and saving

And making mouths watering

عزاه شاريه الى الأشج

وخطه عليه بالتهجي

Its buyer attributed it to the boxthorns

And marked it for him with scent

جاء به الحجيج بعد الحج

يفرون كل سبسب وفج

Brought by the pilgrims after the pilgrimage

They get rid of all dry parts and pits

حتى أتوا منه بما نرجي

فنلت مأمولي به وفلجي

Until they brought from it what we hope for

So I got my hopes and unclenched
