لَمْ يَغْدُ شُكرُكَ في الخَلائِقِ مطلقاً

إِلا ومالُكَ في النَّوالِ حَبيسُ

Your gratitude in creation was never absolute,

Except that your possession in attainment was imprisoned,

خَوَّلْتَنا شَمْساً وبَدْراً أَشْرَقَتْ

بِهِما لَدَيْنا الظُّلْمَةُ الحِنْديسُ

You granted us a sun and a moon that shone brightly

With them the darkness to us was dispelled

رشأ أَتانا وهو حسناً يُوسُفٌ

وغَزَالَةٌ هي بَهْجَةً بَلْقيسُ

Joseph arose beautiful to us

And a gazelle she was a delight to Balqis

هَذا ولَمْ تَقْنَعْ بِذاكَ وهَذِهِ

حَتَّى بَعَثْتَ المالَ وهُوَ نَفيسُ

This and that and these did not satisfy you

Until you sent wealth and it is precious

أَتَتِ الوَصِيفَةُ وهي تَحْمِلُ بَدْرَةً

وأَتى عَلى ظَهْرِ الوَصيفِ الكِيسُ

The maidservant came carrying a full moon

And the purse came on the back of the groom

وَكَسَوْتَنا مِمّا أَجادَتْ حَوْكَهُ

مِصْرٌ وزَادَتْ حُسْنُهُ تِنّيسُ

And you clothed us from what Egypt knitted

And Tinnis increased its beauty

فَغَدا لَنا من جودِكَ المَأْكُولُ وال

مَشْروبُ والمَنْكُوحُ والمَلْبوسُ

So from your generosity we had edibles and
