1. O servant, why do you forget the blessings you have received—

    your very creation itself being among God’s gifts?

  2. Five times you meet God, seeking reconciliation,

    each day, yet never cease disobeying Him.

  3. Woe to the worshiper without a heart that turns back—for then

    prayer does not restrain him from his worldly concerns.

  4. Between the testimony of faith and the final salutation,

    his devil distracts him with worldly concerns from communing with Him.

  5. Many a person who neglects a prescribed duty may be reproached

    by a vigilant conscience that guides him toward piety.

  6. In religion lies the purification of the intellect; religion guards,

    for God, the one whose Lord wills him toward goodness.

  7. What worth has reason in this world, attending a person,

    unless it labors to secure his good end in the Hereafter?

  8. The world of delusion is a fleeting enjoyment we shall lose;

    then no enjoyment, wealth, or prestige remains.
