ويا مانع الأسواء من أوليائه

وأعدائه حسب اختصاص المشيئة

O withholder of harm from Your saints,

And their enemies according to the specification of Destiny.

ويا مانع الأعطاء يا معطي العطا

لأمرك حق المنع مثل العطية

O withholder of gifts, O giver of gifts,

Your command has the right to withhold as the gift does.

ويا مانع الأشياء حفظاً مهيئاً

لأسباب حكم الحفظ والمانعية

O withholder of things, protecting, making ready

For the reasons behind the ruling of protection and prevention.

منعت قلوب المتقين من الهوى

وذاك عطاء سيدي في الحقيقة

You prevented the hearts of the pious from passion,

And that is a gift from You, my Master, in reality.

ومنعت للكفار عن منهج الهدى

تباركت من أسرارك القدرية

And you prevented guidance from the infidels,

Blessed are You because of the mysteries of Your decree.

لتظهر حكم العدل والقهر ما هنا

من الظلم يا ذا العدل مثقال ذرة

So as to reveal the ruling of justice and subdue the injustice here,

O You who has justice even equal to a mustard seed.

ومنعك عني بعض ما أنا طالب

تيقنت إن المنع فيه لخيرتي

And Your prevention from me some of what I seek—

I have certainty that in the prevention lies what is best for me.

ومنك لي عن بعض ما هو ضائري

عناية خير بي ومحض مودة

And protection for me from some things harmful for me—

watchful care for me and pure affection.

لك الحمد لا أحصي ثناء عليك في

حقوقك إن العجز والحصر قوتي

Yours is praise! I cannot enumerate praise of You

Regarding Your rights. Incapacity and restriction are my faculties.

بسلطانك امنعني الهي من البلا

ء في الدين والدنيا ويوم القيامة

By Your power, O my God, prevent me from afflictions

in religion, worldly life, and the Day of Resurrection.

ورد العدى عني بما شئت إنني

أحاطت بي الأعداء من كل وجهة

And turn hostility away from me however You wish. I am indeed

Surrounded by enemies from every direction.
