1. I cry for help: affliction has touched me, O Most Mer—

    —ciful; remove my affliction, my misery, and my want.

  2. Seeking the Merciful One’s overflowing grace through my poverty,

    at the gate of mercy, through my words and deeds.

  3. Lord, do not leave me to my own strength;

    for my own strength has no strength at all.

  4. Revive, O Living One, my innate nature in You, and make

    for me a light by which I may walk in my hour of distress.

  5. My poverty has not escaped Your knowledge, O Sustainer,

    nor my brokenness, nor how wretched my station is.

  6. O my Guardian, undertake to repel the calamities

    that have driven me between affliction and humiliation.

  7. Against them I hope only in Your true prom—

    —ise, which one such as I hopes for, O Truth.

  8. Grant me the foremost place, O Fi—

    —rst, and grant me nearness to You and Your protective care.

  9. Cast me, O Most Holy, into the sea of Your sancti—

    —ty, and wash my soul and mind in holiness.

  10. Clothe me, O Source of Peace, in well-being embrac—

    —ing both my modes of being, and spare me every terror.

  11. Grant my soul faith, O Giver of safety from ter—

    —ror, and make fear of Your wrath my sole concern.

  12. The calamity is grave, O Guardian over all—rescue

    me swiftly! Succor, succor! Be there for me.

  13. Catastrophes have torn my whole apart, O Restorer;

    so mend the breach and gather me whole today.

  14. Do not leave me, O my Creator, a target of afflic—

    —tion; encompass me against every plot and deceit.

  15. Creator of all, cure the soul of a grievous dis—

    —ease, incurable, that has coursed through every part and all of me.

  16. Fashion fear of You within my hard heart,

    and beautify hope, O Shaper of my form.
