1. You rose in greatness above all, O Exalted One,

    for Your own Essence, freely choosing, in the majesty of divinity.

  2. Yours is pure grandeur, O Exalted One,

    far above all deficiency in the all-holy Essence.

  3. Your supreme greatness is utterly beyond imperfection.

    Understandings dwindle before it and grow weary;

  4. the furthest reach of minds’ perception is their exhaustion,

    and their being cast helpless and far off in a sea of awe.

  5. Nor is there any veiling from grasping what cannot be borne;

    but beyond the Mount lies the mystery of Reality.

  6. The very nature of perception is a deficiency in all besides You—

    so how would perception fare amid the grandeur of divinity?

  7. How can imagination plunge into oceans of blindness,

    when thoughts reach their limit short of the Divine Identity?

  8. Far from it! The matter is unassailable, and the guideposts are effaced;

    the essence of the matter is hidden from discerning minds.

  9. You drew near to me in Your grandeur, raising

    my worth, and did not consign me to ruin.

  10. You strengthened my back when humankind brought me low,

    through Your might, my Lord—not through my own might and strength.

  11. So grant me a proud rising above all that turns me from You,

    and the humility of submission in seeking Your pleasure and in reverent fear.
