1. My God, no sound escapes You, O

    Hearer, whether uttered aloud or in secret.

  2. My God, God’s hearing is apprehension by His very essence;

    what is heard is truly manifest to Him.

  3. My God, the hearing of the Real is not through an organ,

    nor an attribute that subsists and resides within the Essence.

  4. Rather, it is eternal knowledge corresponding

    necessarily to the essence of what is known.

  5. You heard the creeping of ants, O Hearer of prayer,

    upon the unyielding rock in pitch darkness.

  6. No call distracts You from another call;

    to Your hearing, one is as a multitude.

  7. You heard the praisers’ praise and protected them

    through Your praise, O Possessor of praise, in every blessing.

  8. You heard all creation’s prayer—in state and utterance,

    in secret and in spirit, whispered and proclaimed.

  9. My God, You heard my cry of supplication;

    it is not a prayer made for pride or acclaim.

  10. But seas of afflictions have engulfed me,

    the greatest being my sin and my postponement of repentance.

  11. You heard [my cry]; so dispel them with relief and mercy,

    though I am not deserving of reward.
