1. You are hallowed in utter holiness, O al-Salām, wholly free

of deficiency and afflictions—pure freedom from all fault.

  2. You are transcendent: the holiness of al-Salām is no attribution

relative to a limit, nor are His negations subject to a condition.

  3. The transcendence of the Real’s Essence is holiness intrinsic to Him;

He may be indicated, though the Reality cannot be grasped.

  4. The utmost reach of cognition is only to affirm transcendence

for the Face of al-Salām, the Real, in every presence.

  5. The stations of praise, however high they rise,

cannot attain to hallowing Him in any way.

  6. My God, You safeguarded creation from its very beginning

by bringing the realm of possibility into being through peerless origination.

  7. And You kept them safe, from their beginning until their return,

from injustice in Your eternal decrees.

  8. And You spared them the absolute mystery, except what

contained good—while it remains hidden from them.

  9. Shelter me, shelter me, O al-Salām, from harm

to my faith or worldly life, from any direction.

  10. For no creature is safe unless there is for it,

by the right hand of al-Salām, the Real, a spreading of safety.

  11. My God, make me truly peace, and let me receive

Your peace in the everlasting Abode of Peace.
