1. My God, the Glorious, the True—Your glory inheres

in Your Essence, Your acts, and Your attributes.

  2. My God, You did not first attain might—no, nor

through Your act, O Possessor of glory, or through the existence of anything base.

  3. My God, the prerogatives of glory belong to the Truth alone,

by intrinsic necessity: the glory of divinity.

  4. My God, God’s glory is loftiest in noble qualities,

and highest in perfection; it is not constrained by my lowliness.

  5. My God, within the vastness of His might, God’s glory

    repels adversity wherever it descends.

  6. My God, what measure has a helpless creature’s praise

beside the measure of God’s glory and sublime greatness?

  7. My God, had You not ordained remembrance and prayer,

I would have held God’s glory too holy for my words to mention.

  8. The knots of my ordeals have tightened their hold on me;

by Your glory, deliver me and untie my affliction.

  9. For You are beautiful in goodness, boundless in giving,

praiseworthy, glorious; You are not constrained by my need.

  10. I am not disappointed, having sought succor through Your glory,

even if my human passion has tainted my sincerity.

  11. And what most befits, O Glorious One, Your glory—the

manifest—is assuredly the fulfillment of my desire.
