1. O Sovereign of all dominion, whose might is sublime,

    His will holds sovereign sway among His creatures.

  2. O Sovereign of all dominion, the Self-Sufficient, He who holds

    The power to withhold and bestow, without any aid;

  3. O Sovereign of all dominion, the Almighty, He to whom belong

    Perfect guardianship and all creation’s utter need;

  4. O Sovereign of all dominion, beneficent to His servants

    Through a just allotment of abundance and scarcity;

  5. O Sovereign of all dominion, in whose right hand

    The keys of all things have come at last to rest;

  6. By Your power You grant dominion, Lord, to whom You will,

    And take it from whom You will, in wisdom.

  7. You exalt whom You will and abase whom

    You will, as the demands of divinity ordain.

  8. Dominion is Yours; giving never diminishes Your treasuries.

    Praise is Yours; You never weary, however great the gift.

  9. In Your hand is the goodness of which You alone are worthy,

    And Your goodness, my Lord, is my provision in distress.

  10. To You, my God, I raise my absolute poverty,

    For absolute is my need, and dire my necessity.

  11. Not one atom of my wretched state is hidden

    From You; nor—by Your might, my Master—is my need.
