Sol 5.6

  1. Overwhelming anguish has closed around me, while You, O

    Gentle One, are boundless in grace, able to undo my anguish.

  2. You are subtle and cannot be apprehended—exalted are You, my Lord—

    beyond apprehension in this world and in the Hereafter.

  3. You are subtle, yet You encompass all beings without exception;

    what is hidden among them and apprehending what is manifest are alike to You.

  4. In subtle grace, You prepared every good,

    beyond all expectation—pure beneficence and mercy.

  5. Your grace in the acts of Your Essence is beyond

    all reckoning, out of kindness, my Lord, toward creation.

  6. You showed subtle grace by easing the difficult, by Your mending of the—

    broken, and by relieving overwhelming sorrows.

  7. My God, whose grace is hidden, overtake, with Your hidden—

    grace, the afflictions that have befallen Your servant.

  8. You bestowed hidden grace on me and sheltered me;

    You guided me graciously and brought my blessing to completion.

  9. Misfortunes came one upon another, and misery ripened to harvest

    upon me; my resolve faltered before my powers of endurance.

  10. Yet Your grace is nearer, O Gentle One, than affliction,

    even if my ordeal outweighed East and West.

  11. By the mysteries of God's grace throughout His heavenly dominion

    and His kingdom: O Gentle One, deal gently with my frailty.
