1. To You the destiny of all has come, O You who are the Last,

just as the beginning of all lies in Firstness.

  2. Knowledge of You, O God, is the final station;

to You belongs the aspect of the rank of Lastness.

  3. The abiding of the True Last has no end,

while all besides Him abides but for a time.

  4. You inscribed in the Book of Truth that there is no Last

but You, and You remain for all eternity.

  5. You were the First, with none other placed before You,

and You were the Last, my God—not through any cause.

  6. The ages followed one another after they came to be,

while You, my God, are the Last of the temporal order.

  7. You began, my God, the first moment of my creation,

and ordained my delay by the decree of the divine Will.

  8. Advancing those whom You advanced is a branch of volition,

and delaying those whom You delayed is wisdom’s ordainment.

  9. My God, purify me through the mystery of the True Last,

and remove the mote of all others from my inward being.

  10. Let not my delay in this cosmos be caused

by my remoteness from knowing the reality of Divinity.

  11. Ordain it as a delay whose culmination is Your good pleasure,

that I may pass it protected by the guardianship of Lordship.
