بأسمائك الحسنى دعوتك موقنا
بانجازك الوعد الذي قلت فافعلا
I called upon You by Your beautiful names certain
Of Your fulfilling the promise You stated, so do!
دعوت وما قدمت لي من ذريعة
ولكن بحسن الظن جئت مؤملا
I prayed though I offered no excuse for myself
Yet in good faith I came hopefully
ومن ذا الذي ناجاك يا رب مخلصاً
فما باء بالحظ الوفي معجلا
Who is he that supplicated You, O Savior Lord,
And did not come away rewarded right away?
وأي ملح بالأسامي رددته
وقد عاش في اذكارها متبتلا
What salt through names rehearsed
Did not live reciting them troubled?
وحقك ليس الحجب إلا نفوسنا
وأوصافها تستلزم المنع والقلى
Your right is not to veil except our souls
Whose states require refusal and holding back
فما بخل المسؤول جل ثناؤه
ولكن أصل المنع منا تأصلا
So the Blessed and Exalted did not stint
But the cause of holding back is intrinsic to us
أزل طبع نفسي واكفني شهواتها
وكن لي بأسرار الأسامي مكملا
Remove the nature of my soul and make me shun its desires
And for me in the secrets of the Names be perfecting
ونج وتب واغفر خطيئة ندم
مقر وجد والطف به وتقبلا
Save, turn toward, forgive the sin of regretful
Confessant, intense, have mercy on him and accept!
ويسر لي اللهم نيل مآربي
بأسرارهم واحلل بها عقدة البلا
And ease for me, O Allah, obtaining my hopes and goals
Through their secrets and undo by them my knot of affliction
الهي ملكني تصاريف فعلها
وأسرار تأثيراتها أملك العلى
O my God, give me mastery over the unfolding of their effects
And the secrets of their influences! Possess the Most High!
ولا يك حظاً عاجلاً لي فضلها
ولكن حظاً عاجلاً ومؤجلا
And do not appoint for me through their grace
A present fortune, but one soon and later!
وصل الهي كل حين على الذي
له مدح التنزيل منك وبجلا
O Allah, bless the one at all times
Whom You praised in revelation and revered
محمد الهادي الأمين وآله
وأصحابه والتابعين ومن تلا
Muhammad the Rightly Guiding Trustworthy and his House
His companions and successors and whoever followed!
صلاة تحط الوزر عني بفضلها
وتنجح سؤلي مكثراً ومقللا
A prayer that lifts my burden through its merit
And grants my request abundantly or sparingly
وترحم تضراعي وطول تبتلى
بأسمائك الحسنى لديك وتقبلا
And has mercy on my pleading and long affliction
By Your beautiful names with You and accepts!
ومذ مد قولي من قلامس فيضه
خضماً من البحر المحيط تسلسلا
And since my words flowed forth entwined
With a measure drawn from the endless sea
وكان بمكنون العجائب سلما
به يرتقي أهل السلوك إلى العلى
Containing marvels beyond number, a ladder
By which the gnostics ascend to the Most High
تضمن تأريخاً لحسن كماله
ثلاثة أسماء تحرر جملا
Embedding a date for the perfection of its beauty
Three names that summarize the whole:
غني علي مع لطيف وعدّه
مليك ووهاب فخذه مفصلا
Rich, Gentle, King—so take it detailed!
