among love’s mysteries are gentleness and humbling.

لعل سكرته في الحب تجذبُهُ

إلى وصالك يوماً وهو مذهولُ

Perhaps his intoxication with love will draw him

to union with you one day, while he is in a daze.

فاصبر عليه وخل الحب ينحله

جرح بجرح وما في الحب تبديلُ

جرح بجرح وما في الحب تبديلُ

So be patient with him, and let love deal him

wound for wound—for in love there is no substitution.
