1. My God bears witness to all beings in the visible realm,

    and in the unseen, encompassing each particular and the whole.

  2. My God is Witness—ever-present, never absent;

    You see, yet are not seen; not an atom’s weight escapes You.

  3. My God bears witness to all affairs in their entirety;

    You suffice, my Lord, as witness to the matter.

  4. A Witness, establishing and setting forth the clear proofs

    of justice, divine Oneness, and the divine Attribute.

  5. All that exists is witness to You, my Lord, bearing witness,

    affirming that divine Oneness is beginningless.

  6. A Witness to my secret heart’s affirmation of Oneness and its knowledge

    that my very self is not hidden from You.

  7. He is Witness: His presence illumines hearts,

    and brings intimacy to inner secrets through gnosis.

  8. He is Witness to my secret heart and whispered prayer, without exception,

    in this world and the next; I am in no way hidden from You.

  9. Dearest Companion, in intimacy with You there is no loneliness;

    You are my Witness; distance from You is the greatest loneliness.

  10. By the mystery of the Witness, grant me patience, my Master,

    under Your decree, and make me a witness to my servanthood,

  11. that I may worship You, O God, truly—as though I

    see You, with the whole cosmos behind my gaze.
