1. On the loftiest ascent of remembrance, place your reliance;

    there the sun of the secret shone forth in radiant splendor.

  2. It is nothing but the invocation of our Lord’s Names—

    the Exalted—but first observe the conditions.

  3. The first is cleansing the heart of the harm of transgres—

    —sions; the second is solitude in seclusion.

  4. The third is pure devotion to God alone;

    this is the heart of the matter, so hold fast to it, advancing.

  5. The fourth is facing the Sacred House in supplication;

    the fifth is being in a state of complete ablution.

  6. The sixth is the commendable fast of Thursday;

    and at the pre-dawn of al-Zahrāʾ—the Radiant—practice the invocation.

  7. For it, according to its various applications, have been established

    conditions; and this suffices as a basis for seeking blessing.

  8. You will attain its secret, treasured in the ocean of its light,

    by fulfilling what is stipulated; if that is not done, then no.

  9. For whomever al-Fattāḥ, the Opener, admits to something of its secret

    will become a sovereign, honored throughout the worlds.

  10. So rely upon it in grave affairs, invoking

    with yā, the vocative call, seeking guidance and trusting.
