1. O Benefactor of the righteous, O You who bestow goodness upon

Your creation, graciously granting every benefaction!

  2. Through blessings You have made Yourself known, O Benefactor—blessings manifest

and hidden, in religion and in worldly life.

  3. From Your goodness come deeds, O Benefactor, and their reward;

and from Your goodness comes our calling for the gift.

  4. From Your goodness, benevolence continues even toward one who

openly confronts You with disobedience and insolence.

  5. The greatest beneficence is that of Him who brings about contentment

and grants contentment and nearness through their causes.

  6. The most tender beneficence is His who gently cares for His servant

and shows him mercy before his servitude is even reckoned.

  7. The noblest beneficence is His who grants His servant success

and favors those who seek Him by unveiling the Way.

  8. Your goodness is perfect alike in giving and withholding,

when withholding contains the ordaining of what is best.

  9. In the compassionate Benefactor’s watchful care lies sufficiency

for His creature, both in His withholding and His gift.

  10. Through the name of the Benefactor I turn, O Benefactor, wretched as I am,

certain that the Noble One’s goodness will grant me sufficiency.

  11. So lavish goodness upon me, O Benefactor, all-embracing—

for my present life, my faith, and my life hereafter.
