1. Your oft-sinning servant has come, in ignorance and heedlessness,

    having committed every grave sin, O Accepter of repentance.

  2. Your relenting—by easing my way to repentance—is my intercessor,

    for You, O Accepter of repentance, readily receive my repentance.

  3. You relent toward the disobedient by enabling them to return,

    that they may escape their forsakenness in sin.

  4. Your relenting toward the servant through beneficence is, absolutely,

    a beautiful act of power and a divine bestowal of grace.

  5. O Accepter of repentance, I have overstepped my bounds and left

    no sin but idolatry uncommitted by my own free choice.

  6. Yet You did not withhold the benevolence and generosity

    that befit God’s glory in every respect;

  7. nor did You close the avenues before me, but showed forbearance,

    gentleness, and guidance to bring my repentance to fulfillment.

  8. Despite all this, I never cease from wrongdoing,

    nor guard against that wherein lie my ruin and misery.

  9. And this, although I know that I am returning

    to a Majesty that is not straitened by my scattered state—

  10. returning to ruin, O Accepter of repentance, if divine favor eludes me;

    yet Your relenting, O Accepter of repentance, O Lord, is my safeguard.

  11. My God, rescue me by making firm a repentance

    sincere and true, and make repentance’s adornment my own.
