إليك مدَدت الكف في كل شدّةٍ

ومنك وجدتُ اللطف في كل نائب

In every hardship, I extend my palm to You

And from You I find kindness in every peril

وأنتَ ملاذي والأنامُ بمعزلٍ

وهل مستحيلٌ في الرجاءِ كواجِب

You are my refuge, while people are indifferent

Is the hoped for impossible like the obligatory?

فحقق رجائي فيك يا رب واكفِني

شماتَ عدوٍّ أو إسائةَ صاحبِ

So fulfill my hope in You, O Lord, and suffice me

The gloating of an enemy or the hurt of a friend

فكم كربةٍ نحيتني من غمارِها

وكانَت شجىً بين الحشا والتَرائبِ

How many distresses have You saved me from their darkness

They were agonies between caution and misfortunes

فلا قوةٌ عندي ولا لي حيلةٌ

سوى أن فقري للجميل المواهبِ

I have no power nor any strategy

Except that my poverty calls for the Bestower of Gifts

فيا ملجأ المضطرِّ عند دعائهِ

أغِثني فقد سدّت عليَّ مذاهبي

O refuge of the desperate when he prays

Save me, for my ways are closed to me

رجاؤُك رأس المال عندي وربحهُ

وزُهدي في المخلوقِ أزكى مكاسبي

Hope in You is the capital for me and its profit

And my asceticism towards the creation is my purest gain

ويا محسناً في ما مضى أنتَ قادرٌ

على اللطف بي في حالتي والعواقبِ

O You who were good in the past, You are able

To be kind to me in my state and consequences

وإنّي لأرجو منكَ ما أنتَ أهلهُ

وإن كنتُ خطاء كثيرَ المصائبِ

And I do hope from You what You are worthy of

Even if I am a sinner, oft stricken with calamities

وصلّ على المختار من آلِ هاشم

شفيعِ الورى عند امتداد النوائب

And bless the Chosen One from the Family of Hashim

The intercessor of mankind in times of tribulation
