على عهدكُم باقي وفي الوصلِ طامعُ

O comfort of my eyes, by God I swear

I'm still bound by vow to you, still hopeful of union

لقد نبتت في القلبِ منكم محبّة

كما نبتت في الراحتين الأصابِعُ

In my heart love for you has sprouted

As fingers sprout on the palms of hands

حرامٌ على قلبي محبّةُ غيركُم

كما حرمَت عن موسى تلك المراضعُ

My heart is forbidden to love any but you

As the wetnurses were forbidden to Moses
