Sol 5.6

  1. Whenever I remember my Lord,

    my longing trembles to meet Him.

  2. I sought my true life, and my heart shone

    through remembrance of my Lord, exalted be His praise.

  3. None has tasted the savor of passionate love

    save one who has known union, or understood it.

  4. O the triumph of a people who, by God, attained victory:

    they saw none among creation but Him.

  5. He drew them near to Himself, then chose them,

    so they purified their thought in His sublime heights.

  6. They pay no heed to anything other than Him—

    how could they, when they have beheld His radiance?

  7. He removed from them the veiling curtains,

    and they breathed in a waft of His love.

  8. He manifested Himself in light and splendor

    to them, and they cried, “O He! O He!”

  9. Then He said, “Indeed, I am loving toward you,

    a generous Lord—how excellent a God!

  10. Sovereignty is Mine, and command is My command;

    you are My feast, and glory is glory.

  11. Generosity is My generosity, and grace My grace;

    I am the One whose gifts are hoped for.

  12. I receive whichever of My servants repents,

    and I heed not what he has committed.

  13. Love is My love, and nearness My nearness;

    might is My might—so enter His sanctuary.

  14. Delight your heart with a cup of My drink;

    let your gaze take pleasure in what you see.

  15. And look upon it with a contemplative gaze,

    through your Master’s earth or His heaven.”
