1. Look into your mirror: what you see

    within it is that.

  2. Lift the mirror and look:

    everything appears—

  3. the empty and the inhabited,

    the dead and the living.

  4. What is hidden does not appear to you

    except in the mirror.

  5. Your veil falls away; you remain alone in existence,

    seeing none but yourself.

  6. Do not look at the faults of others,

for you have faults of your own.

  7. Every fault comes from your own self;

    turn back and repent.

  8. If an opening were granted to your heart,

    you would pierce through conceit.

  9. You would see this and that, beholding the knowledge of the unseen,

and thank the one who gave to you.

  10. All speech is with you,

    and the telling is yours.

  11. Take the greater part of what is beautiful,

    and leave the ugly.

  12. And to the one who is ignorant, say:

    “Your ignorance has blinded you.”

  13. Had He desired your guidance, you would have investigated

my affair and what He forbade you.

  14. Know, O faqir of God,

    with true knowledge.

  15. Hope in none but God,

    and be faithful.

  16. Did you not know that God loves

    purity?

  17. Do not say, “He has forgotten you”; outwardly and inwardly,

He never ceases to see you.
