Oh my yearning, oh my sadness altogether
And oh the grief of my heart for what we have met
We left religion and the world altogether
And we left the loved ones and our sons
For we were not people of religion
To have patience for affliction when we are tested
Nor were we people of the world
To refuse it even if we do not want the world
We left our homes to tyrannical rabble
And the peasants of villages and Ash'aris
