تَسيءُ عَلى بُعدِ الدِيارِ تَنائِياً
وَخُلفُكَ عِندَ القَربِ مِن غَضَبِ البُعدِ
You do wrong—beyond the dwellings’ distance—by drawing still farther away,
and when nearness comes, what succeeds you is born of distance’s anger.
كَثيرٌ سُروري في قَليلِ وَفائِهِ
وَعِندَ اِبتِسامِ البَرقِ قَهقَهَةُ الرَعدِ
Great is my joy at his slightest faithfulness;
and at lightning’s smile comes thunder’s guffaw.
