قَد عَرِيَت أَبياتُها حينَ اِكتَسَت
أَردِيَةَ الريحِ عَشِيّاً وَضُحى
Its dwellings were recognizable when they donned
the wind’s robes, evening and morning.
لَم يَبقَ فيها غَيرُ ما يُذكي الجَوى
وَيَصرِفُ النَومَ وَيَبعُثُ البُكا
Nothing remained there save what kindles love’s ache,
banishes sleep, and summons tears.
