فَيا بَهجَةَ الدُنيا إِذا الشَمسُ أَشرَقَت
كَما أَشرَقَت فَوقَ البَرِيَّةِ زَينَبُ
How splendid the world is when the sun rises—
just as Zaynab shone above all creation!
يُفَضَّضُ مِنها الجَوُّ عِندَ طُلوعِها
وَلَكِنَّ وَجهَ الأَرضِ فيها مُذَهَّبُ
At its rising, the air is silvered by its light,
while the face of the earth is gilded.
وَتَحسَبُ عَينَ الشَمسِ إِذ هِيَ رَنَّقَت
عَلى الأُفُقِ الغَربِيِّ تِبراً يُذَوَّبُ
You would think the sun’s orb, as it hangs poised
upon the western horizon, were gold being melted.
