  1. The banners of treachery have been raised,

    and the gate of virtue and gratitude has been barred.

  2. The verse of benevolence has been abrogated,

    struck from the pages of time.

  3. Seek no good, and do not hope for it,

    for this is the reign of evil.

  4. I have heard tell of the noble freeman, but never met him—

    oh, how long I have yearned for the noble freeman!
