حَسِبتُ الخَيرَ يَكثُرُ في التَنائي

فَكانَ الخَيرُ أَكثَرَ في التَداني

I thought goodness abounded in seclusion

Yet goodness was more in coming together

ذَكَرتُ مُقامَنا بِسُراةِ حُزوى

فَسِرتُ مَعَ الوَساوِسِ في عَنانِ

I remembered our dwelling in Sura Huzwa

So I walked with delusions held in rein

أَلا لِلَّهِ حَزمٌ وَاِصطِبارٌ

تَقاسَمَهُ بِنِيّاتِ الزَمانِ

Behold! For God there is resolve and patience

Shared among the intentions of time

عَزيزٌ أَضمَرَتهُ نَوى شُطونِ

وَظَلَّ مِنَ المَهانَةِ في ضَمانِ

A dear one whose essence was folded in a purpose

And stayed safe from disgrace in a guarantor

يُناطُ إِلى العَزيزِ إِذا تَبَوّى

بِمَنزِلِ غُربَةٍ طَرفُ الهَوانِ

The dear one turns to when he aspires

To a place of strangerhood the edge of mortality
