وَفي كُلِّ شَيءٍ حينَ تُخبِرُ أَمرَهُ
مَعايِبَ حَتّى البَدرُ أَكلَفُ أَسفَعُ
In everything, when you probe its nature, lie
flaws—even the full moon is mottled and dusk-stained.
وَأَيُّ حُسامٍ لَيسَ يَنبو وَيَنثَني
وَأَيُّ جَوادٍ لَيسَ يَكبو وَيَظلَعُ
What keen-edged sword does not glance aside and bend?
What noble steed does not stumble and go lame?
