لَيسَ ريحُ التُفّاحِ عِندي بِريحِ
لا وَلَكِنَّهُ صَديقٌ لِروحي
The scent of apples is no mere scent to me;
No—it is the friend of my soul:
حُمرَةَ الخَدِّ وَاِخضِرارَ عِذارٍ
فَمَليحٌ يَطوفُ حَولَ مَليحِ
the redness of a cheek and the greenness of its down—
one beauty circling another beauty.
