كَأَنَّهُ سافِرٌ قُدّامَ مُنتَقِبِ
The sun has sunk, and the month’s crescent follows her,
As though he were bare-faced, with a veiled one before him.
تَبدو الثُرَيّا وَأَمرُ اللَيلِ مُجتَمِعٌ
كَأَنَّها عَقرَبٌ مَقطوعَةُ الذَنَبِ
The Pleiades appear when night has gathered its full strength,
As though they were a scorpion with its tail cut off.
