مَرَّ بِنا يَستَميلُهُ السُكرُ
وَكَيفَ يَصحو وَريقُهُ خَمرُ
He passed by us, drunkenness making him sway;
and how could he sober, when his saliva is wine?
قَبَّلتُ فيهِ عَلى مُراقَبَةٍ
يَنبوعَ خَمرٍ حَصباؤُهُ دُرُّ
In him I kissed, though watched,
a spring of wine whose pebbles are pearls.
